Births - My New Niece, And Our Family Home & Work Ethic

Read Comments

4-23-07 From Kevin:

On Saturday, April 21st around 3pm Central time in Nashville TN, my sister and bro-in-law, Ashley & Nathan Logsdon, gave birth to their first child: Clara Isabel Logsdon. For you sensitive women...right...Nathan didn't actually birth that baby from his body. But he had as much to do, and I know...went through much pain in his own right as he watched his bride endure excruciating pain. I've been there...

Ashley is 10 years younger than myself, and my bro Jared is seven years younger...so this is my first 'blood' niece or nephew. Teri's sister Tami also has five kids, so I am wealthy with nieces and nephews. But must admit, one that has my blood in it is cool.

I don't take the birth of new humans lightly. It's a miracle that draws me to my God and reinforces my knowledge of a divine creator. Whoever thinks our universe is just a random happening...I don't believe has held a new baby in their arms.

Ashley & Nathan - - congratulations, you have my admiration, love and appreciation (for providing me with another niece!)

Also... a mere four days earlier, Teri's cousin Jessica and her husband Jody...welcomed their first baby into the world: Josiah Miller Cash

Just...glorious happenings!!

In Colorado...
We spent a killer weekend at our new property, heretofore referred to as 'The Homestead.' After a night of campfire fun with our family and some friends who have four boys (thanks for coming Leighs!), Teri took the little boys home to bed and the big kids (Caleb, Autumn & Eliza) and I spent the night. It was incredible. The next two days we spent clearing the property.

The amount of limbs, branches and logs to clear out is immense, and we can see it's going to build our kid's work ethic in a massive way. Much of the time, they'd rather play. But if faced with the "do you want to live here or stay at our current home for the next five years" from their impatient father...they get to it. I need to practice compassion, but we really do see it as an unprecedented opportunity for them to work hard at something they care about...that is a very overwhelming task. To me, it's worth it just for this fact.
