Steve:

This is good to remember, as I've often found myself just giving in to whatever will appease the kids, especially when it's been a long day and my energy is down. Good to focus on the long term aspects that 'giving in' can lead to.
Thanks so much,
Steve

Pam Ernst:

I agree totally! I've never heard of a baby yet who has starved because it missed a meal or two till it ate some carrots!

Lindsay:

You guys are my food inspiration! And I know you practice what you preach. Great challenge to consider what the message is that we're sending our kids when we answer their complaints with food. Great "food for thought"...(haha)

By the way, I'm missing hearing your voices! When is the next podcast? We're waiting!

Lately Canyon is going through his first 'picky' stage with food. Yesterday took the whole lunch time till he literally...finally ate his carrots! He was about a minute from being taken down off his high chair to go hungry. But we had to endure him being fussy the whole time. Maybe it's cause I like about any food that I'm less tolerant of pickiness.

Al Buriti:

Congratulations on doing this show to help us parents! Great effort.
I understand your concern about the food topic, but the overall tone of the show was patronizing. I personally think that an attitude of teaching would come across better than talking down.

Being a foreigner and having grown overseas (South America and Italy), I would emphasize that food is more than just "fuel", it is to be greatly enjoyed as it nourishes your body.

Al,

Thanks so much for your comment and support!

And as for us coming across as patronizing...I think it was actually worse...and was condescending. You are right, and we mentioned it in a later show and are trying to check our spirits when doing shows or blogs.

I also agree with your point of food. I lived in the Netherlands for a while and enjoyed the mentality at meals. I have learned to really relish food. One of our favorite restaurants belongs to the ‘Slow Food Movement.’ You can check it out here: http://www.slowfood.com/ That would be a great topic for a show!

Again, thanks for your feedback.
